Midfielder Facundo Farías will return to Argentine football after his time at Inter Miami, but not to join Racing as rumored, instead, he will become a new signing for Estudiantes La Plata. The La Plata club will retain 70% of the player's rights and will offer him a multi-year contract thanks to investor Foster Gillet.
"I am happy to join Estudiantes. It's an important step in my career and I hope to contribute a lot to the team," Farías commented about his new challenge in Argentine football.
Although the exact transfer amount has not been disclosed, it is known that Inter Miami was asking for 4.5 million dollars for the midfielder. Racing, on the other hand, preferred a loan agreement with an option to buy.
Farías, 22 years old, arrived at Inter Miami at the end of July 2023 for a sum close to five and a half million dollars for 80% of his rights, plus an additional two million for performance clauses. However, his time in MLS was cut short by a ligament injury in his left knee in January 2024, which kept him off the field for the entire year.
After months of rehabilitation, Farías returned to training in October and hopes to get back to his best level with Estudiantes. Despite his inactivity, the player is known to coach Eduardo Domínguez, with whom he coincided in Colón de Santa Fe's championship win in 2021.
Farías's arrival adds to the successful signings of Estudiantes in this transfer market, where Lucas Alario, Cristian Medina, and Alexis Castro have also joined, thus strengthening the La Plata team's squad for the upcoming challenges in Argentine football.
